   Born in Paris, Marie of Brittany, duchess de Mont-bazon, was the wife of Hercule de Rohan, duke de Montbazon. she had many amorous adventures and affairs (the duke de Longueville was one of her lovers) and was involved in several intrigues and plots. These included the cabale des importants, a plot organized by a political faction, mostly victims of Cardinal richelieu, who wanted to take their revenge after the death of King louis x III by overthrowing Cardinal mazarin. The duchess de Mont-bazon was also involved in other fronde conspiracies and was famous for her quarrel with the duchess de longueville.
